Turkana tripping: umoja

This was always the will we/won’t we part of the trip…. Returning to Kenya from Ethiopia  via Lake Turkana. Search any overlander site and the is the bit ( apart from ” how he hell do we get through Syria/Egypt, Saudis Arabia”) and this the common question. Its pretty epic , but epic isn’t not enough with a five year old ( and a distict lack of mechanical expertise) . so we’d decided to go for only if we had company…someone to go for help if we had any issues, or at least make any n’er do well think twice about repeating our armed robbery in Chobe experience…

Luckily we met Sylvia and Chris hand feeding hyena’s in Harar. In general we felt this was a good place to meet reasonably intrepid folk, with the ability to handle a border crossing with officials on only one side, and which seems to be a regular invasion / diplomatic misunderstanding neighbours tiff site…
