Mountain High….

Bale Mountains was always one of the expected highlights of the trip. Wolves, trout, large-eared owls…whats not to like. It surpassed this…

Started with the spooky Rira village. Nice eating with the family and neighbours – good place after picking up up Mohammed on the forest road.

Next morning through the equally spooky forest itself…

and then up to the Sanetti PLateau … over 4000m!

Breaking 4000m.. go back says the GPS!

Specifics: We stayed at Rira Village, in the Harenna forest cultural village. This is really just a family letting out a few of their Tukuls. It very basic but very nice. A very simple meal is provided. They provide thick blankets, but its so cold and they are such heavy blankets, I’d unpack sleeping bags too.
